The coconut crab (Birgus latro), is the largest land-dwelling crustacean earth. We saw them on a small island of Zanzibar (Tanzania). The fishermen of the island told us this crab. It is fast, likes to palm trees to climb and eat coconuts. Adult coconut crabs are large about 40 cm. They weigh up to about 4 kilograms. The span of the legs can be up to 1 meter tall. The shearing of the coconut crab have great power. They live on land.
